I am a third-year undergraduate student majoring in Environmental Science and Management at UC Davis, and I am a member of the Research Scholars Program in Insect Biology (RSPIB).  I am currently studying the  relationship between parasitoid wasps and their aphid hosts.  Aphids attacked by insect parasitoids turn into “mummies” before they die, and parasitized aphids exhibit altered microhabitat selection behavior before they mummify.  My research question is whether the microhabitat selected by parasitized aphids on plants has an effect on the fitness of the developing parasitoid wasp.  I am also helping PhD candidate Michael Culshaw-Maurer with his research project. I hope to keep studying the relationships between organisms in the future.
